A major engine or gearbox failure can leave you facing a repair bill bigger than the car is worth. Before you pay for a rebuild or a replacement, find out what we can offer for the car as it is.
It helps to know what the mechanic found, but it's not essential. Describe what happened when it failed and what it does now.
Sound familiar?
The engine overheated
Overheating can lead to a blown head gasket or worse. Tell us what happened and whether it still starts.
It's making a knocking noise
Engine noises often point to expensive internal damage. Describe the sound and when it happens.
The gearbox is slipping or won't engage
Transmission problems are some of the costliest repairs. Tell us what the car does.
A mechanic has quoted a rebuild
If the quote is more than you want to spend, share what they found and we'll quote on the car as it is.
What to tell us about engine or gearbox trouble
- What happened when it failed
- What the mechanic said, if it has been looked at
- Whether it starts, idles or moves at all
- Any warning lights, smoke, leaks or noises
- Whether any parts have already been removed
You don't need every detail. Tell us what you know.
How it works
- 1
Tell us about your car
Fill in the short form with the make, model, condition and where it is.
- 2
Send photos
Add a few photos if you can. They're optional, but they help us quote more accurately.
- 3
Receive a quote
We review the details and contact you with an offer, or tell you if we can't purchase the car.
- 4
Accept the offer
If the offer suits you, say yes. If it doesn't, you've lost nothing.
- 5
Arrange collection where applicable
Accept your quote and we'll arrange collection with one of our local collection partners. They pay you the amount we quoted, in cash, when they collect the car. If your car has no resale value, we can arrange free removal instead. Collection is free from most of South East Queensland (we confirm it for your location). Cars in good condition are different: we buy them directly, pick them up ourselves and agree the payment method with you.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to repair my car before getting a quote?
No. Tell us what's wrong with it and we'll assess it as it is. There's no need to spend money on repairs first.
What information do you need for a quote?
The make, model, year, where the car is, and what condition it's in. Photos help us give you a more accurate figure but are optional.
Is there any obligation once I ask for a quote?
Asking for a quote doesn't commit you to selling. You decide whether the offer suits you.
Should I fix the engine before selling?
Not necessarily. A rebuild or replacement can cost more than the value it adds. Get a quote on the car as it is first, then decide.
What if the engine has been partly pulled apart?
Tell us which parts have been removed and whether you still have them. We can look at partly dismantled cars too.
Find out what your car may be worth.
